The emergence of welding robots has greatly liberated a certain amount of labor force and made the welding process simpler. Since the welding robot is equipped with an automatic wire feeding system, including components such as wire feeder, wire feeding hose, and wire feeding coil, through a perfect configuration, the welding wire can be sent to the specified position in one step. The wire feeding system of the welding robot can adopt three wire feeding methods: pushing wire, pulling wire, and pushing - pulling wire.
1. Pushing wire feeding method: This structure is relatively simple, light in weight, and convenient for operation and maintenance; the disadvantage is that the wire feeding resistance is large, and as the wire feeding hose elongates, the wire feeding stability becomes worse. Therefore, this wire feeding method is usually used in semi - automatic GMAW with a wire diameter of 2.0mm and a wire feeding hose length of 5m.
2. There are two types of pulling wire feeding methods: one is to separate the wire reel from the welding gun and connect them through a wire feeding hose; the other is to directly install the wire tray on the welding gun; both methods are suitable for semi - automatic GMAW with thin welding wires. The wire diameter is less than or equal to 0.8mm, and the wire feeding is smooth.
3. Pushing - pulling wire feeding method: This wire feeding system has both a wire pushing machine and a wire pulling machine. Among them, wire pushing is the main power, and wire pulling is to straighten the welding wire. Although its wire feeding hose can be extended to 10m, due to its complex structure, it is not widely used in practice. Wire feeding is one of the indispensable operation links in the welding process. Therefore, when selecting a welding robot, this aspect should also be considered to choose a suitable wire feeding method.
