Artificial intelligence experts point out that computers should not only perform tasks assigned by humans but should also independently and optimally solve many problems. For example, ordinary computers used for calculating electricity bills or conducting banking transactions are programmed to accurately execute instruction lists, whereas computers in certain research centers can "think." The former operate rapidly but lack intelligence; the latter, stored with more complex programs and crammed with information, can mimic many human abilities (and in some cases, even surpass them).

More intelligent

Scientists believe that the research and development direction of intelligent robots is to equip robots with "brain chips" to make them more intelligent, which will be a big step forward in cognitive learning, automatic organization, and comprehensive processing of fuzzy information.

While some have expressed concerns about whether these intelligent robots equipped with "brain chips" will one day surpass humans in intelligence, or even pose a threat to humanity, many scientists believe such concerns are completely unfounded. In terms of intelligence, the robot's IQ is equivalent to that of a four-year-old child, and its "common sense" is even worse than that of a normal adult.

National Policy

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and other three ministries jointly issued the "Robotics Industry Development Plan (2016-2020)", pointing out that the development of the robotics industry must promote breakthroughs in major landmark products first.

In the field of industrial robots, we focus on intelligent production and intelligent logistics, overcome key technologies of industrial robots, improve operability and maintainability, and focus on developing six iconic industrial robot products, including arc welding robots, vacuum (clean) robots, fully autonomous programmable intelligent industrial robots, human-machine collaborative robots, dual-arm robots, and heavy-load AGVs, to guide the development of my country's industrial robots towards the middle and high-end.

In the field of service robots, we will focus on developing four iconic products, namely fire rescue robots, surgical robots, intelligent public service robots, and intelligent nursing robots, to promote the serialization of professional service robots and the commercialization of personal/family service robots.

The country has established specific standards for the technologies, specifications, and functions of the ten iconic products listed above. For example, the intelligent public service robot features laser SLAM navigation, a maximum speed of 0.6 m/s, positioning accuracy of ±100 mm, heading angle accuracy of ±5°, a maximum operating time of 3 hours, two arms, 2-7 degrees of freedom per arm, and 1-2 degrees of freedom for the head. It is capable of autonomous walking, human-machine interaction, explanation, and guidance.

Summarize

Intelligent robots, a technology encompassing a wide range of disciplines, emerged almost alongside the advent of artificial intelligence. They are becoming increasingly important in today's society, with a growing number of fields and roles requiring them. This has led to a surge in research. While it's still difficult to see intelligent robots in our daily lives, in the near future, with the continuous development and maturity of intelligent robot technology and the tireless efforts of numerous researchers, intelligent robots will surely enter every household, better serving our lives and making them more comfortable and healthy.
